Bentley, Western Australia Curtin University Full time $120,000 - $180,000 per year

Job Reference:

Assessment 2030 Initiative Aligning with Curtin University's Learning and Teaching Strategy and our Curtin 2030 Strategic Plan, this initiative represents a fundamental shift in conceptualising and implementing assessment practices across the institution. Assessment 2030 empowers educators and staff to revolutionise the design, delivery, and evaluation of student learning. Guided on core principles of assessment validity, inclusion, and viability, this initiative presents a historic opportunity to enhance our assessment framework and establish new standards of educational excellence. About the Role: Are you passionate about shaping the future of higher education? As a Senior Lecturer, Assessment Design, you'll be at the forefront of innovative educational design as part of Curtin's university-wide Assessment 2030 project. In this dynamic role, you'll have the opportunity to redefine what assessment looks like in the modern era, creating impactful, forward-thinking assessment strategies that uphold academic integrity and boost graduate employability.

You'll work centrally within the Office of the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic) while also collaborating closely with a single faculty, where you'll meet a diverse range of people and work alongside colleagues in a highly collaborative, supportive environment. This is your chance to think deeply about assessment and curriculum, influencing the way students learn and succeed, and driving transformative change across the university.

Please note, this is a full-time fixed term contract until 31 December 2026, although we are open to part time working arrangements for the right candidates.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Lead assessment and curriculum mapping initiatives within a single faculty, providing senior leaders (e.g., Deans of Learning and Teaching, Directors of Learning and Teaching, and course leaders) with key information to support future strategic decisions.
  • Champion innovative approaches to assessment and curriculum design, driving continuous improvement in line with educational objectives.
  • Facilitate collaborative workshops with faculty senior leaders to address key changes in educational design, including the redesign of course and unit learning outcomes, assessment strategies, and curriculum structure.
  • Analyse current course mapping processes, including assessment types, retention rates, and student satisfaction, to provide evidence-based recommendations for curriculum and assessment redesign.

We are looking for (selection criteria):

  • A doctoral qualification in relevant discipline (or equivalent accreditation and professional standing for Teaching Focused Clinical Professional role).
  • Proven expertise in innovative assessment and curriculum design.
  • Strong understanding of key educational theories, including constructive alignment, universal design for learning principles, and assessment validity.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively, including in challenging environments.
  • Skilled in analysing educational data, such as course enrolment, retention rates, and assessment mapping at the course level.
  • Proven experience in designing innovative higher education courses and units, utilising educational technologies and/or Generative AI tools.

Role Requirements:

  1. As this is a fixed-term contract, you will require current work rights in Australia that match the tenure of this role
  2. Successful applicants are subject to a National Police Clearance, and background, integrity, and reference checks to Curtin's satisfaction
