Capital Radio Network News Director

Capital Radio Network is seeking a News Director to lead our news team. Working from our Canberra studios, this full-time role delivers news bulletins for stations across our network including Canberra, Perth, Gippsland, Goulburn, and the Snowy Mountains.

Working in a fast-paced environment, you'll lead a team of five journalists, setting up the news agenda, sourcing and developing stories for on-air.

Key responsibilities:

·      Lead, mentor and support our news team

·      Source, research and write news stories

·      Develop news angles and engaging content

·      Present bulletins and conduct live crosses

·      Manage rosters and newsroom operations

·      Work with announcers and producers to develop content

·      Build contacts and represent the network when required

To be successful, you'll have:

·      Relevant qualifications in journalism or communications, or equivalent experience

·      Experience in a radio newsroom or similar

·      Strong editorial judgement and understanding of media law and codes

·      Excellent communication and leadership skills

·      Ability to meet tight deadlines

·      A current driver's licence
