**The Opportunity**:
The Department of Parliamentary Services (DPS) is recruiting for a Parliamentary Executive Level 1 Assistant Director - Network Operations - Projects within Cyber Security Branch.
The Information Services Division (ISD) delivers ICT to the Department of Parliamentary Services (DPS) staff as well as all other users of the Parliamentary computing network and ICT facilities. Within ISD, the Network Operations team is responsible for a variety of services and ICT capabilities, including the physical network infrastructure such as the local and wide area networks, gateway, load balancing and wireless technologies.
The role will plan and coordinate network project resourcing, engage with internal and external stakeholders on project requirements, produce reports for senior management to track project milestones and risks. The position will support the Director - Network Security and Operations in the commercial and contract management aspects of the section and ensure compliance with commonwealth procurement rules and the Public Governance, Performance and accountability (PGPA) Act. This will include tracking contract terms, approaching the market, managing contracts and purchases orders and vendor invoices.
Furthermore, the role will contribute to network capability life-cycle management and provide technical advice on the design, delivery, transition and maintenance of secure network infrastructure in support of the Department’s strategy and business outcomes.
**Who we are looking for**:
As Assistant Director - Network Security and Operations, your key responsibilities will be:
- Network related project coordination, stakeholder engagement on project requirements and tracking progress milestones and risks.
- Support of networks such as physical network infrastructure including local and wide area networks, gateway, load balancing and wireless technologies.
- Ensuring projects are on budget whilst meeting desired business outcomes.
- Contract management, tracking contracts, engaging with vendors on performance and supporting the section in requests for quote and managing purchase orders and invoices.
- Capability lifecycle management of network-based technology from design, transition, operations to disposal.
- Developing and maintaining a system to tracking complex network technologies
- Experience in driving forward planning and architecture, evaluate new technologies to determine suitability to solving business needs, ensure appropriate policies and procedures are in place.
- Contributing to operations of network technologies, assuring system availability and uptime, accountable for continuous improvement and innovation to enhance the service delivery experience.
**Job Specific Requirements**:
- The successful applicant will be required to obtain and maintain a Negative Vetting 1 (Confidential/Highly Protected/Secret) security clearance.
- Tertiary qualifications in Information Technology/Project management or relevant IT/project management industry-based qualifications are desirable.
- 5 + years’ experience managing and supporting networks in an enterprise environment including but not limited to Gateway, LAN/WAN, Security, Load-Balancing and Wireless solutions.
- Understanding of current Networking technologies and ability to map to future/emerging technologies/industry trends and organisational outcomes..
