Key Responsibilities
We are seeking an experienced and analytical
Credit
Risk Manager-Underwriting
to look after Fat Zebra payment and merchant risk portfolio. This role is critical in assessing and mitigating financial risk across our merchant portfolio with a particular focus on credit exposure, merchant and partner risk assessment. This role focusses on refreshing and maintaining an underwriting policy in line with the broader company risk appetite to enable growth and to manage risk. You will collaborate cross functionally with sales, finance and onboarding team members to ensure new business is written with growth mindset whilst balancing risk. You will be working closely with the Head of Merchant Risk to accurately report on the merchant portfolio providing analysis for executive decision making. Some of your responsibilities are:
- Lead the ongoing refinement and execution of our underwriting policy to enable growth and balance risk
- Actively monitor and manage portfolio to mitigate credit risk (chargebacks, refunds and fees due to insolvency)
- Develop and maintain credit risk models and customer risk scoring to evaluate exposure across merchants and partners
- Monitor portfolio performance and proactively manage credit, reputational, geographic and other operational risks associated
- Work with finance in establishing appropriate controls to prevent financial losses such as appropriate floats and reserves
- Establish and maintain clear decision-making reporting on portfolio movements, risks and opportunities
- Drive regulatory reporting linking to merchant portfolio (such as RBA LCR reporting and ATO reporting)
- Provide quality, consistent and timely risk decisions (underwriting)
- Work with Sales team and directly with the partners (such as ISV's) to optimise sales and underwriting process with appropriate controls.
- Work closely with acquiring partners on continuous improvements and alignment on risk appetite
- Create and adhere to internal SLAs for underwriting to standardise lead times across the portfolio
- Conduct ongoing due diligence and portfolio risk monitoring. &
- Present credit risk findings and reports to stakeholders, senior management, credit committee and product teams as well as lead change initiatives
Skills And Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in finance, Economics, Business, or a related field (master's preferred)
- 5+ years' experience in credit risk analysis,
- Proficiency in financial analysis, credit modelling, and risk assessment tools
- Strong working knowledge of Australian regulatory frameworks (ASIC, AUSTRAC, AML/CTF Act).
