We have an exciting opportunity at nbn, as Lead Infrastructure SME reporting to Senior Manager – Design.
A bit about your role
The Lead Infrastructure SME plays a critical role in providing expert technical guidance across one or more infrastructure domains, translating functional requirements into solutions, and delivering both CAPEX and OPEX initiatives. This role involves leading design and architectural documentation, mentoring engineers, and supporting platform owners to ensure successful delivery. It requires collaboration with internal teams such as Data Centre and Application teams, as well as external vendors.
Key responsibilities include driving innovation, performing peer reviews, contributing to platform roadmaps, and ensuring smooth service transitions. The SME also supports integration design and provides on-the-job training and mentorship to technical teams.
A bit about you
The ideal candidate for the Lead Infrastructure SME role should have strong technical expertise across infrastructure domains, including blade servers, operating systems, multi-tier storage, backup systems, clustering, virtualisation tools, scripting, and automation. The candidate should have hands-on experience with infrastructure core technologies, particularly the VMware stack, VRA and VRO specifications, and deploying VRA instances and blueprints. Proficiency in Python and Java scripting is essential, along with experience managing integrations in VRA/VRO environments and a solid understanding of dynamic types within VRO deployments.
They should demonstrate a proactive and innovative mindset, with the ability to lead and influence across the organisation and respond effectively in dynamic environments. In addition to strong problem-solving and analytical skills, Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, container technologies, and business continuity practices is also important, along with a commitment to safety and compliance with organisational policies.
