Black Hops is one of Australia's leading independent breweries, born and brewed on the Gold Coast. Known for our innovative, high-quality beers and strong community culture, we operate a large brewery and two taprooms with a focus on excellence, creativity, and collaboration.
Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced and passionate Brewer to join our production team at the Gold Coast. The successful candidate will have at least 1 years' experience in a commercial brewing environment and be capable across all areas of production—from wort creation to packaging. This is a hands-on role in a fast-paced, high-standard brewery where attention to detail, quality control, and team spirit are essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute all brewing and cellar operations (milling, mashing, lautering, boiling, fermenting, dry-hopping, centrifuging, and carbonating)
- Clean and sanitize tanks, brewhouse, and production areas following SOPs
- Perform QC/QA tasks including gravities, pH, temperatures, and sensory evaluations
- Complete accurate production records and logs using brewing software
- Operate packaging equipment (canning line, keg washer/filler) as required
- Assist with inventory tracking of raw materials and packaging supplies
- Collaborate with the brewing and broader production team to ensure efficiency, consistency, and safety
- Support new product development and pilot brews as needed
Skills & Qualifications
- Minimum 1 years' experience in a commercial brewery
- Solid understanding of the brewing process and beer styles
- High attention to detail and commitment to quality and cleanliness
- Physically fit and able to work in a manual, fast-paced environment
- Ability to work both autonomously and within a team
- Forklift license preferred (or willingness to obtain)
- Formal brewing education (IBD, TAFE, etc.) is advantageous but not essential
- Passion for beer and alignment with Black Hops values
Working Conditions
- Full-time role with shift work, including some early mornings and evenings
- Based at the Black Hops production facility in Biggera Waters
- Work includes lifting, bending, and operating in hot and wet environments
