About the Opportunity

An upcoming national initiative is currently plans to deliver structured, evidence-informed online mindfulness and resilience programs to participants across Australia. The initiative aims to improve mental health outcomes through accessible, trauma-aware education and practice delivered entirely online via secure digital platforms.

Our initiative proposal combines professional facilitation with lived-experience support, ensuring participants benefit from both clinical and peer perspectives. As part of our proposal, we are pre-establishing our program's core facilitation team. Expressions of Interest are invited from qualified professionals with experience delivering trauma-sensitive group programs and a passion for supporting recovery and wellbeing through guided mindfulness practice.

Position Purpose

The Program Facilitator is responsible for delivering an 8-week, trauma-informed online group mindfulness program designed to build psychological resilience and wellbeing.

Reporting to the Program Clinical Lead, the Facilitator will guide participants through structured weekly sessions, support skill development, and collaborate closely with Peer Mentor (team members with relevant lived experience) who provide complementary participant support throughout the program.

Key Responsibilities

Program Delivery

  • Facilitate live online group sessions following the approved 8-week curriculum and facilitation guidelines.
  • Foster a safe, inclusive, and trauma-aware environment that supports trust, reflection, and peer connection.
  • Deliver sessions using secure video platforms and assist participants with digital engagement where needed.
  • Integrate collaboration with Peer Mentors to enhance engagement, accessibility, and shared understanding.

Participant Support

  • Monitor participant wellbeing, group dynamics, and engagement during and between sessions.
  • Identify and escalate risk or clinical concerns to the Program Clinical Lead promptly.
  • Provide appropriate follow-up communication and share wellbeing resources in line with program protocols.

Program Quality & Evaluation

  • Maintain accurate attendance and engagement records.
  • Participate in supervision, reflective practice, and debrief meetings.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement processes and feedback cycles.

Collaboration & Communication

  • Work closely with the Program Clinical Lead, administrative staff, and Peer Mentors to ensure quality and consistency.
  • Attend team briefings and training sessions as required.
  • Adhere to confidentiality, ethical conduct, and compliance standards.

Selection Criteria

Essential Qualifications & Experience

  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, Counselling, Psychology, or related health/community field.
  • Demonstrated experience facilitating structured wellbeing, mindfulness, or therapeutic group programs.
  • Understanding of trauma-informed care and group safety principles.
  • Competence in secure videoconferencing and online facilitation tools.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and organisational skills.

Highly Regarded

  • Formal training or certification in mindfulness, meditation, or similar modalities.
  • Experience working with veteran, emergency services, or trauma-affected communities.
  • Experience collaborating with peer or lived-experience practitioners.
  • Familiarity with evaluation, outcome tracking, or program reporting.

Additional Information

  • Appointments are subject to contract award. Successful applicants will be pre-identified as part of the program's core facilitation team and contacted upon confirmation of contract.
  • Applicants must hold or be willing to obtain a National Police Clearance and Working with Vulnerable People Check prior to commencement.
  • Positions are offered as Fixed Term Contracts (up to 3 years) with potential for extension based on program outcomes and continuation.
