The Clinical Nurse (CN) role provides advanced clinical and problem-solving skills, expert planning, and coordination skills in the clinical management of complex wounds, bowel and bladder stomas, urology surgery and pressure injury management. This nursing service works closely with the paediatric general surgical teams. Attending to children with complex care needs, while maintaining quality standards.
About the Team
The General Surgical and Stomal Therapy Nursing service provides clinically effective paediatric care to all inpatients and outpatients- (currently being managed by a QCH treating team), Mater Mothers NICU and RBWH NICU. The STN service attends to all children with Bowel and Bladder stomas, Surgical Urology patients, Complex wounds, Pressure injury management and prevention, neonates cared for under the PSUB team as well as gastrostomies. Service delivery consist of attending and consulting at Surgical outpatient clinic, attending to parent emails and phone calls, assisting with linking children to their local HHS and educating staff. There is a strong focus on self-education and support is given to assist with this. The STN team consists of 1 x FTE CNC and 4.0 FTE CN's. Advanced practice in wound care, gastrostomy care and or stomal therapy will be considered.
About the Role
In this role you will deliver quality outcomes for children, young people and families (Leader of Self) in accordance with the Children's Health Queensland Leadership Excellence Framework (PDF) ( ) and the Queensland Public Service ( ) and the CHQ values ( ).
You'll fulfil the responsibilities of this role in accordance with Schedule 2, Nurses and Midwives (Queensland Health) Award - State Generic Level Statements (GLS) Nurse Grade 6 Band 1 and the Queensland Health and Children's Health Queensland Hospital and Health Service (CHQHHS) commitments and values, in achievement of the organisational goals and Domains of Practice.

Domain 1: Direct comprehensive care or provision of direct care
- Accountable for Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) and own standards, actions and the outcomes of own nursing practice, professional advice given and for activities delegated.
