We are currently inviting applications from experienced and highly detail-oriented professionals for the position of Farm Manager for our Balaam Hill Farm.

The position of breeder farm manager is primarily responsible for achieving maximum productivity from breeder farms.

The position oversees the entire operation dedicated to breeding livestock and is responsible for managing all aspects of the breeding cycle, including animal health and nutrition, biosecurity, staff management, shed set up, bird placement, grow out, pick up and clean out operations, WHS/Animal Welfare compliance and auditing, and various farm administrative requirements on the breeder farm to ensure optimal flock performance, and profitability.

Key Responsibilities (but not limited to):

  • Animal husbandry including monitoring and maintaining the health and condition of the livestock
  • Biosecurity and health management in order to prevent disease outbreak
  • Production optimization including analyzing data and optimizing feeding and housing conditions
  • Staff management including training, supervising and motivating farm staff
  • Ensuring compliance with industry standards, animal welfare regulations, and health and safety policies

Required Skills (Must-haves):

  • Breeder rearing experience desirable
  • Proven ability to lead and motivate a team
  • Ability to identify issues and implement solutions to optimize flock performance
  • Strong communication skills in order to effectively interact with staff and other stakeholders
  • A strong understating of and commitment to ethical farming practices and animal welfare standards
