About the Role
We are seeking a skilled and proactive Systems Administrator to join our innovative and growing team. This role blends traditional IT systems administration with hands-on support of AgTech, IoT, and farm automation systems. If you're a strong technical problem solver who's eager to explore new technologies from Hyper-V to MQTT and PLCs. This role offers a unique, varied challenge in a forward-thinking agricultural environment.
Key Responsibilities
Infrastructure & Support
· Administer Windows Servers, Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, file systems, and backups.
· Maintain and support virtualisation platforms (Hyper-V / Proxmox).
· Provide Level 2/3 support and mentor the Systems Support Officer.
· Ensure system security, patching, and compliance across all IT assets.
Networking & Security
· Maintain network infrastructure: firewalls, switches, VLANs, wireless networks, and SD-WAN.
· Manage VPNs, remote access, and MFA.
· Ensure robust endpoint protection and disaster recovery strategies.
· AgTech, IoT & Automation
· Support the deployment and integration of IoT sensors, controllers, and automation systems (e.g., soil moisture, temperature, SCADA).
· Administer MQTT brokers (Mosquitto, HiveMQ) and process sensor data.
· Manage PLC configurations and SCADA platform support.
· Collaborate with the IT Manager to integrate sensor data into business platforms (AirAgri, Data Lakes, Power BI).
Projects & Continuous Improvement
· Lead and deliver IT infrastructure upgrades and improvement projects.
· Identify automation opportunities to streamline IT operations.
· Maintain documentation for systems and procedures.
Leadership & Collaboration
· Mentor junior IT staff and provide technical escalation.
· Work cross-functionally with internal teams and external vendors.
· Support strategic IT planning aligned with operational goals.
About You
We are looking for a passionate and resourceful IT professional who thrives in a hands-on role. You will bring:
Essential
· years in IT (2+ in a SysAdmin or Level 2 role).
· Experience with Windows Server, AD, SQL, Group Policy, Office 365.
· Strong networking: switches, firewalls, VLANs, wireless, SD-WAN.
· Skilled in troubleshooting, backup, DR, and endpoint security.
· Willing to learn non-traditional IT and automation systems.
Desirable
· Experience with MQTT brokers (Mosquitto, HiveMQ), LoRaWAN.
· Understanding of PLCs, SCADA, Codesys, Modbus, OPC-UA.
· Dynamics NAV (on-prem), scripting (PowerShell), Azure/AWS.
· Power BI, IoT analytics, Android app development.
· CCNA/Network+, structured cabling (Cat6/Fibre), 3D printing.
