Are you passionate about urban landscapes and environmental management? The City of Nedlands is offering a permanent, full-time opportunity for a proactive and detail-oriented Technical Officer – Parks and Environment to support the delivery of key programs and contribute to the strategic development of our parks and natural assets.
About the Role
Reporting to the Coordinator Parks Strategy and Programs, you'll play a hands-on role in delivering environmental initiatives, supporting contract management, and engaging with the community to help shape the future of Nedlands' green infrastructure.
Here's a snapshot of what you'll be doing:
- Assist in delivering the 2025 tree planting program and planning for 2026
- Audit contractor performance and ensure compliance with maintenance standards
- Develop and review strategic documents, policies, and contract specifications
- Monitor and assess the condition of landscape and horticultural assets
- Provide technical advice to operational teams and support project management
- Act as the first point of contact for tree planting queries and community consultation
- Support contract management and administrative functions
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across the Parks and Environment unit
- Backfill roles within the Technical Services Directorate as required
What You Bring
Must-haves:
- Minimum one year of full-time study in Horticulture, Project Management, or Business Management
- Strong communication, research, and report writing skills
- Ability to interpret Australian Standards and relevant legislation
- Good time management, organisational, and customer service skills
- Intermediate computer proficiency
Qualifications & Checks:
- Diploma (or equivalent) in Horticulture, Project Management, Business, or related discipline
- Current 'C' Class Driver's Licence
- Willingness to undertake a pre-employment medical
Bonus points for:
- Experience in local government
- Knowledge of horticulture/arboriculture principles and relevant legislation
What We Offer
This permanent, full-time position offers a cash salary between $84,739 – $98,574 per annum, plus superannuation, depending on your skills and experience.
