We are a Melbourne based boutique law firm focusing on corporate, commercial, property, disputes and migration law.

We currently have a vacancy for an enthusiastic legal secretary with exposure to our areas of practice (particularly, familiarity around the Australian migration framework and applications process) to provide administrative support to our growing team. Arrangements can be made for this role to be either full time or part time. 

The successful candidate can expect:

  • excellent mentoring and guidance from the practice's directors and senior practitioners;
  • to work predominately with clients having a connection with the Asia Pacific region; and
  • to work with a young and energetic team of professionals in a genuinely collegiate, supportive and flexible workplace.

We are seeking a candidate who:

  • has an interest in our practice areas (particularly in migration law) and desire to work within the law firm context;
  • broadly familiar with finance and accounting processes (experience and/or qualification in accounting, book-keeping, commerce, finance, sales and marketing fields will be advantageous);
  • has strong organisational, time management, interpersonal and communication skills;
  • is a fast and adaptive learner (particularly in relation to new processes and systems);
  • is friendly, pro-active and possesses a strong work ethic;
  • an enthusiastic attitude towards learning and a desire to contribute to the growth of the firm; and
  • has an interest in our practice areas and business activity in the Asia Pacific region generally (the ability to speak and write Chinese will be advantageous).

Your duties from a day to day basis will include:

  • supporting 1 business manager and 4 legal practitioners with general administration;
  • assisting with the practice's migration files (particularly with overflow work from the firm's migration practitioners);
  • attending to general office administration;
  • assisting with book keeping and trust accounting matters;
  • attending to periodic invoicing and managing accounts receivable; and
  • receiving phone calls, making appointments and attending to basic client enquiries.
