We are seeking a highly motivated and proactive Cost Accountant  to join our Finance Team based at Emu Plains, NSW.  As a full-time Cost Accountant, you will work closely with the Financial Controller and other key stakeholders across the business, playing a vital role in ensuring the financial stability and profitability of the business.

What you'll be doing

  • Maintain and continuously improve the product costing framework for all manufactured and purchased items.
  • Develop and update standard costs, BOMs (Bill of Materials)
  • Analyse and report on material, labour, and overhead variances, identifying trends and recommending corrective actions.
  • Partner with Operations and Engineering teams to evaluate new products, providing detailed cost analysis and pricing support.
  • Review inventory valuations and perform regular reconciliations between financial and operational systems.
  • Monitor and analyse production performance to ensure cost accuracy and efficiency.
  • Support annual budgeting and forecasting processes by providing cost insights and variance explanations.
  • Assist with process improvement initiatives to enhance cost visibility, margin analysis, and financial control.
  • Review, analysis and maintenance of standard costing system to ensure accuracy and consistency including the maintenance of existing and the development of new custom parts

What we're looking for

  • Tertiary qualification in Accounting or Finance
  • Previous accounting experience in Manufacturing industry
  • CPA or CA qualification highly regarded
  • Minimum 2-3 years of relevant experience in a similar role
  • Strong knowledge of Australian accounting standards and taxation requirements
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Proficient in the use of accounting software (Pronto) and MS Office suite
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality work
