Your new role:
As a Senior Nurse within Surgical Services at QEII Hospital, you will practice at an advanced level to deliver high-quality, cost-effective care, contributing to surgical quality improvement and service excellence. You will lead operational initiatives, collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams, and ensure reliable data submission to the ACS NSQIP database. Your role includes supporting clinical governance, mentoring staff, and promoting a culture of continuous learning and evidence-based practice.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide advanced, autonomous nursing care in collaboration with the surgical team.
- Collaborate with nursing, surgical, and anaesthetic directors to identify quality improvement opportunities.
- Lead operational and service development projects aligned with clinical governance principles.
- Mentor, precept, and support nursing staff to foster professional growth.
About you:
We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse with advanced clinical expertise and a passion for surgical care quality and leadership. You are a proactive, analytical thinker with strong communication skills, committed to fostering teamwork, innovation, and excellence.
- Proven experience in advanced nursing practice within surgical or acute care settings.
- Strong knowledge of clinical governance, quality improvement, and patient safety standards.
- Postgraduate qualification or enrolment in related advanced nursing studies is highly desirable.

The Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Hospital (QEII) is a medium metropolitan adult facility providing a range of inpatient and outpatient services including a 24-hour Emergency Department. We provide a range of services, including surgery, cardiology, endoscopy, orthopaedics, gynaecology, urology, geriatric, respiratory and emergency medicine.
We're making our hospital bigger and better to make it easier for our growing community to get the health care they need. We'll have more beds, medical wards and expanded intensive care and emergency services planned to be opened by 2027.
