Purpose

The Accountant is responsible for overseeing all aspects of financial management and reporting. Reporting directly to the Senior Accountant [Finance Manager/Financial Controller] you will work collaboratively with various departments to drive financial excellence.

Relationships

This position reports directly to the Chief Financial Officer and works collaboratively with other finance team members.

Work environment

Work is primarily office based with no physical demands.

Areas of responsibility (AORs)

  1. Financial record keeping:

i) Ensure complete, accurate, and timely recording of all financial transactions, maintaining integrity across accounts payable (Sage),accounts receivable receivable (Odyssey), payroll (Access), general ledger (Odyssey and Sage), and bank reconciliations to support reliable, accurate and timely financial operations

  1. Financial and Management Reporting

i) Assist in the preparation and analysis of high-quality monthly management accounts and associated analysis of variances, trends and exceptions,

ii) Assist in delivery of annual audited financial statements, supporting the audit process through analytics and resolving audit enquiries that meet compliance standards

  1. Budgeting and forecasting

i) Assist in the annual budgeting process through providing analysis and in collaboration with department heads,

ii) Maintain and develop the company's forecast model, providing analysis and insights that enable informed strategic, financial and operational decision-making.

  1. Financial Analysis

i) Provide actionable financial insights through profitability, cost, and trend analysis, identifying opportunities for performance improvement and cost optimisation across the business.

  1. Regulatory compliance

i) Maintain full compliance with all relevant financial regulations and reporting obligations, proactively adapting to legislative changes affecting the financial services industry.

  1. Financial systems and controls

i) Maintain and uphold robust internal financial controls and policies that safeguard company assets and ensure the accuracy and reliability of financial reporting.

ii) Oversee financial systems and tools, documenting and process mapping to identify and recommend areas for improvement whether through automation or other efficiencies

  1. Treasury & Cash management

i) Produce, maintain and develop daily and weekly cash flow forecast assisting in optimising cash flow and liquidity to meet operational and funding needs.

ii) Ensure timely and accurate lender reporting and manage the Securitised Warehouse processes to support cost-effective debt management and facility compliance (sales, cash sweep, drawdown notices)

  1. Implement data tools and capabilities to improve automation, efficiencies and deeper insights.

  2. Actively support a culture of zero harm in the workplace; comply with legislation and organisational policy and procedures; take reasonable care to ensure actions and omissions do not impact on the health and safety of others.

  3. Act always as a brand ambassador by maintaining and encouraging in others a professional image of the Company at all times – e.g. personal presentation, communication, work area, documentation, punctuality.

  4. Develop and/or maintain functional relationships and facilitate effective communication with management, staff and clients or any other person or group necessary to conduct the role successfully.

  5. Report in a timely manner and proactively address breaches in service delivery; progress timely corrective action and/or escalate issues where breaches occur.

  6. Perform work in accordance with relevant legislation and quality standards, fostering and promoting commitment to quality and continuous improvement.

  7. Adhere to the Company's policies and procedures and quality assurance and actively lead/participate in team meetings to discuss and monitor workflows, deadlines and deliverables.

  8. Promote and lead by example to achieve a supportive and harmonious work environment and culture in alignment with the values of Attvest Finance.

Experience, qualifications & personal attributes

  1. Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or related field (required).

  2. Professional certification - CPA, CA or equivalent.

  3. Minimum 3 to 5 years of experience in accounting or finance roles.

  4. Proven track record in financial reporting, budgeting and forecasting.

  5. Experience with bank reconciliations, general ledger management and accounts payable/receivable.

  6. Familiarity with audit processes and working with external auditors.

  7. Exposure to regulatory compliance in the financial services industry.

  8. Experience in managing cash flow, lender reporting and financial controls.

  9. Proficient in computer systems, Microsoft Office, and ability to quickly learn and use business systems relevant to the role.

  10. Must have legal entitlement to work in Australia.
