About the Role

The position of Category and Contract Management Specialist is accountable for supporting all procurement matters. Role accountabilities include supporting sourcing, category management strategies and delivery thereof, contract administration, procurement related process control management, procurement documentation management, supplier performance management and rebate/warranty/insurance/defect liability and dispute resolution management.  

Responsibility of the Position:

• Supports the manager in the development of resilient category management strategies that align to key business strategies, the PRS value proposition and product/solution lines.
• Supports the manager in delivering category management and sourcing outcomes that deliver to internal and external customer needs whilst delivering on PRS's revenue, cost, cash and working capital targets.
• Contract administration, including preparation, execution, updating and amendment in line with contractual terms and conditions
• Ensure all PRS procurement occurs under contract, in conformance with CAT and PRS procurement policy.
• Maintaining process, change, system controls across all PRS procurement contracts.
• Developing, drafting and executing procurement related contract documentation, request for information (RFI), request for proposal (RFP) and contracts.
• Analysing and reporting on supplier performance, ensuring performance meets Progress Rail's safety, quality, lead-time and cost expectations
• Develop, own and maintain the PRS business process for rebate, warranty, insurance, defect liability and dispute resolution management.
• Prepare, manage and track rebates, warranty, insurance, defect liability and dispute resolution in accordance with contracted terms and conditions.
• Able to maintain rebate, warranty, insurance, defect liability and dispute resolution management process controls, including review, assess, verify, approve, process and the like.
• Capable of leading rebate, warranty, insurance, defect liability and dispute resolution negotiations with suppliers.
• Identify, mitigate and manage procurement, sourcing, category, contract and supplier related risk.
• Knowledge of relevant legislation, including TPA, ACCC, legal principles and corporate policies and procedures.

Qualifications & Training

• Bachelor of Commerce, Business, Law or Engineering (preferable).
• Experience with or qualifications in contract law and post graduate qualifications in strategic sourcing.
• Nationally recognised professional procurement/sourcing accreditation (university diploma or other recognized procurement industry body, for example CIPS, AAPCM.
• Continuous improvement/quality (six sigma, TQM, lean).

Experience and Knowledge

• 6 years original equipment manufacturer (OEM) or rail, aviation, logistics, mining or supply chain industry experience.
• 6 years plus of sourcing, category management or supply chain experience
• 5 years planning experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Demonstrated rail industry knowledge, including regulations and regulators, rail operator parameters and SHE requirements.
• Significant ERP systems (D365) experience.
• Demonstrable knowledge of quality processes and systems.
