The Role

We are seeking an experienced and strategic Technical and Development Manager to join (MIOD) in Perth. Reporting to the Chief Technical Officer, you will play a pivotal role in governing and optimising MIOD's Robe River and Rhodes Ridge joint venture operations in the Pilbara. You will provide trusted technical and commercial advice, influence decision-making at senior levels, and identify opportunities that deliver long-term value for Mitsui and its partners.

Key Responsibilities will include:


•    Provide governance and oversight of technical and development activities within the Robe River and Rhodes Ridge Joint Ventures.

•    Review and analyse joint venture operating plans, budgets and project proposals, delivering clear technical and commercial recommendations.

•    Actively participate in joint venture meetings, site visits and inspections on behalf of MIOD.

•    Identify opportunities to improve operational outcomes and prepare proposals for implementation.

•    Build and leverage networks with technical experts and consultants to validate information and identify improvement opportunities.

•    Technical support for MIOD's decarbonisation initiatives. 

•    Occasional travel (interstate & international) will be required to assess opportunities and engage stakeholders.

The Person

You are a confident technical leader who thrives on complex challenges, stakeholder management and understands how to influence outcomes in a joint venture environment.

Required: 

•    Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Metallurgy, or related discipline with mining/minerals focus

•    Minimum 15 years' mining/metallurgical industry experience

•    Demonstrated leadership in large-scale bulk commodity mining and infrastructure projects

•    Strong  and demonstrable analytical, communication and stakeholder engagement skills

•    Solid technical knowledge of mining, transport and shipping of bulk commodities.

•    Australian citizen or Permanent Resident

Desirable:

•    Postgraduate qualification in project management. 

•    Working knowledge of the iron and steel making process and industry

•    5+ years' site-based technical/operations experience

• years' experience delivering mining projects >$500M.
