Disability Support Worker

At Anchored Care, our dedicated team are committed to working with our participants, and their various support networks to best utilize their NDIS plans, achieve greater independence, and reach their NDIS goals. We believe that our participants' voice is the most important.
We are seeking experienced and passionate Disability Support Workers for our participants in our SIL Accommodation Services, daily living support and community access.
As a Disability Support Worker, you will work collaboratively with participants by providing personalised one-to-one or two-to-one support. You will help participants enage and enhance their daily living skills, strengthen relationships with families and carers, enhance their social connections and community networks, so they will grow confidence and independence to live safely in the community.
About You:
- Can work on a rotating roster around Munno Para
- Has excellent people skills, experience in mental health care and sound understanding of NDIS requirements.
- Is passionate and dedicated to supporting individuals to relise their full potential and assisting them in their daily lives.
- Performing personal care for participants, including assistance with bathing, toileting, dressing and grooming.
- Conducting manaul handling tasks in accordance with safety guidelines.
- Has experience working and supporting participants in Supported Independent Living, advocating for their choices and empowering, supporting and enabling participants to achieve their goals and live their best lives.
- Experience providing care within the participants home and community access, e.g. shopping, medical appointments, hobbies etc.
- Able to build independence and capacity for participants with psychosocial disability, intellectual disability, mental health, and/or physical health needs.
- Can evaluate every situation from a trauma-informed perspective and act in a manner that helps to enhance the lives of our participants and reduce the impact of trauma.
- Has at least one year of experience managing challenging behaviours and providing positive behaviour support.
- Values honesty and integrity and has a proven track record when it comes to displaying these values in employment.
- Can set clear, consistent, and kind boundaries and can follow employment guidelines.
- Is flexible in your service delivery and can adapt to your surroundings and the needs of participants that require our support services.
- Is an empathic person who is a great listener and believes in precision and order.
Key Responsibilities:
- Experience in working with participants that have ASD Level 3, Reactive Attachment disorder and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder
- Work with complex care needs and moderate to high challenging behaviours.
- Previous experience in supporting participants with Intellectual and Learning Disability.
- Commitment to engaging with services within the scope of participant positive behaviour support plans, individual behaviour protocols, and programs.
- Comfortable with personal care, including assistance with bathing, toileting, dressing, and grooming.
- Provide intensive daily support to both young people and adults engaging with our services.
- Detailed shift reports, progress reporting, incident reporting, and other data capturing requirements during shifts.
- Assist in scheduling and attending appointments, social events, recreational activities and shopping.
- Meal planning and preparation.
- Light cleaning and other domestic duties.
Essential Criteria:
- Hold a current Working with Children Check and a NDIS Worker Screening Check or be willing to obtain one prior to commencement.
- A current Australian Drivers Licence.
- Hold a current First Aid/CPR certificate or be willing to obtain prior to commencement.
- Willing to work shift work, including days, weekends, nights, active/inactive overnights across a 24/7 roster.
- Right to work in Australia.
- Experience in manual handling techniques.
- Willing to transport participants where required.
- Enthusiastic about supporting people with psychosocial disabilities, intellectual disability, and/or mental health needs.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Job Type: Casual
Pay: $35.00 – $43.00 per hour
