Project Management & Procurement Officer - NSW GovernmentPay Rate: $750 - $800 per day + SuperAnticipated Duration: Until 30th June 2026 with potential to extendLocation: Sydney CBD + WFH (Hybrid)Hours: Monday - Friday, 40 hours per weekIn this role, you will partner closely with internal and external stakeholders to plan, develop, source, and manage procurement arrangements that deliver value for money and align with government policy. You'll support a centre-led procurement advisory function, ensuring procurement strategies, processes, and documentation meet governance, probity, and organisational requirements.
This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a dynamic environment, has deep experience across end-to-end procurement, and is confident advising on procurement risks, strategies, and supplier management.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide timely, high-quality procurement and contract management advice, including needs assessments, market analysis, and commercial risk assessments.
- Lead end-to-end procurement processes (EOIs, RFTs, evaluations, negotiations), ensuring milestones, budgets, and value-for-money outcomes are met.
- Plan and coordinate procurement activities, develop contract management plans, negotiate variations, and support supplier performance management.
- Collaborate with corporate teams and project stakeholders to identify procurement needs and design effective procurement strategies.
- Build strong relationships with internal teams, external suppliers, and broader NSW Government procurement functions.
- Identify, manage, and mitigate procurement risks to ensure compliance, value, and business continuity.
- Prepare high-quality briefs, reports, tender documentation, evaluation materials, negotiation packs, and other procurement-related documentation.
- Maintain accurate and compliant procurement records to meet audit and probity requirements.

- Ensuring all procurement activities and documentation meet compliance and audit standards.
About You
You will bring strong expertise across project procurement, ideally within NSW Government or other regulated environments. You're confident managing procurement from planning through award and contract management, and comfortable advising senior stakeholders on best practice, risks, and commercial considerations.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Proven experience delivering procurement for complex infrastructure projects across the full project lifecycle.
- Demonstrated experience leading end-to-end procurement within NSW Government, including familiarity with relevant frameworks, schemes, contract forms, and probity requirements.
- Strong capability in Microsoft Office Suite — including advanced Excel (pivot tables), executive-level briefing notes, procurement strategies, and presentation development.
- High attention to detail with the ability to work independently as a self-starter.
- Experience in both public and private sector procurement (preferred).
- Relevant tertiary qualifications or equivalent experience.
