About the role

At GEMCON Building, we are seeking a talented and experienced Leading Hand to join our dynamic team. This full-time role is a crucial part of our construction operations, overseeing the day-to-day activities of our on-site workforce and ensuring the successful delivery of our projects.

What you'll be doing

  • Coordinating construction work and ensuring tasks are completed efficiently and to the highest standards
  • Coordinating materials and equipment including picking up and dropping off material as required
  • Ordering materials, equipment and labour, to maximise productivity
  • Maintaining site security and fences
  • Ordering site amenities
  • Arranging for skip bin changeovers
  • Installation and maintenance of site safety measures including handrails, bunting etc
  • Site cleaning and maintenance
  • Monitoring progress and quality of work, and implementing necessary corrective actions
  • Communicating regularly with the project manager
  • Ensuring compliance with all relevant health, safety and environmental regulations
  • Assisting with the planning and scheduling of construction activities
  • Manual handling and being 'on the tools' as required

What we're looking for

  • Someone with experience as a Leading Hand with a proven track record of successfully working on construction projects
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively lead and motivate teams
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities, with a focus on finding practical solutions
  • Thorough understanding of construction methods, materials and equipment, as well as relevant health and safety regulations
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting construction drawings, plans and specifications
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders
  • Relevant qualifications, such as a Certificate IV in Building and Construction or equivalent
  • A fast-paced and can-do attitude is a must
  • Work is all over Sydney and Western Sydney
  • A company Ute and tools is available for the right candidate.
