Are you an experienced Paralegal looking for a change?
· Bring your passion to be part of a high-performing team with a work-life balance
· Exciting role for an experienced Paralegal in cutting-edge, diverse health law work
· Work within a multi-award-winning law firm
About Us
Catherine Henry Lawyers is a multi-award-winning law firm based in Newcastle which assists people throughout NSW. We are experts in health law but what truly sets us apart is our ability to achieve the right outcomes by connecting with and supporting our clients and the community.
We have a friendly, high-achieving culture that attracts the best people.
If you want to work with truly supportive colleagues, then this is the team to join. Our lawyers and legal assistants are highly experienced and dedicated to delivering excellent client service in an environment that makes coming to work a pleasure.
The Opportunity
As a Paralegal in our Newcastle office, you'll be an integral part of our team, working closely with senior lawyers, and enjoying a diverse and engaging workload within our health law team.
Your responsibilities will encompass a wide range of legal tasks, including legal research, information gathering, file management, drafting legal documents, and more. You'll have the chance to gain valuable experience in the areas of medical negligence, health regulatory work, and inquests. You will work with and observe dedicated and experienced professionals in this unique area of law.
This is not an entry-level position, we are seeking individuals who are enthusiastic, motivated and committed to this area of law. You'll need to bring a strong work ethic, excellent critical thinking skills, and a positive attitude.
The position would suit a Paralegal with experience working in a private practice law firm combined with an interest in medical law or alternatively wanting to specialise in personal injury litigation.
This role is full-time but for the right person part-time may be considered. Your duties will vary from day to day and will be adjusted in accordance with your experience and interests but would typically include:
- Preparing and reviewing legal documents, correspondence, memos, emails
- Liaising with clients, Courts, Barristers and other parties
- Opening, maintaining and closing files
- Time recording and billing
- Filing and record keeping
- Other administrative tasks
About You
- Enthusiastic with strong organisation skills and an ability to pre-empt and show initiative.
- Able to work well under pressure to meet deadlines and to self-manage competing priorities.
- Possess excellent interpersonal skills with strong written and verbal communication abilities.
- Excellent organisation and document/file management skills with impeccable multi-tasking abilities.
- Confident demeanour and proven ability to work collaboratively
- Strong computer skills (Office 365) and familiarity with practice management software (e.g. EvolveGO)
Success Factors to the role
Above all, this role requires a confident person with a multi-faceted approach, skilled in organisation, and problem-solving. Must have exceptional attention to detail, strong prioritisation skills, and commercial acumen.
To succeed in this role, you are a forward thinker, willing to learn and grow with the organisation and be friendly and approachable in nature. While qualifications certainly count, demonstrated performance will be measured higher when you willingly take care of the little things to ensure the smooth running of the matters to allow the solicitors to focus on the areas that truly matter each day.
If you are ready to take the next step in your paralegal career and join a team that values your growth and development, we encourage you to apply. We look forward to welcoming a professional like you to our team.
