About the role

Due to the ongoing growth of our CTP team, an opportunity exists in our Newcastle office for a law student legal office assistant or paralegal to join our CTP team, working permanent part-time, 4 days/30 hours per week.

Our CTP team works on behalf of insurer clients on claims for personal injury compensation resulting from motor vehicle accidents, often involving complex medical, liability, and causation issues. You'll play a key role in file management, reporting, investigating, gathering, and preparing information for advocacy in the Personal Injury Commission and courts.

You'll work in a team managed by a highly experienced but approachable partner, with mentoring and support from the broader team of lawyers and support staff. This role provides invaluable entry level legal experience for anyone interested in personal injury law, and your time as a legal office assistant or paralegal will be strongly considered for our National Learning & Development Program for Graduate Lawyers upon your admission.

About you

This role is ideal for a law student in late stages of their studies, looking to balance their evening or remote studies with a permanent part-time role in the industry.

We encourage applications from candidates who have:

  • Availability to work permanent part-time, 4 days/30 hours per week. Unpaid study leave is available during exam periods and mandatory placements, and we understand your availability may be limited during these times;
  • Prior work experience in fast-paced team environments (in any industry);
  • A genuine interest in exploring and pursuing a career in personal injury law;
  • A practical, down-to-earth approach with strong communication and teamwork skills;
  • Adaptability, resilience, and a commitment to helping the team achieve its overall goals;
  • Excellent attention to detail, organization, and problem-solving skills;
  • Self-confidence, initiative, and a commitment to ongoing learning.
