Melbourne, Victoria, Australia Melbourne and Olympic Parks Trust Full time $90,000 - $120,000 per year

Are you an experienced operations professional ready to drive world-class events at one of Melbourne's most iconic stadiums? AAMI Park is seeking a talented and motivated Operations Manager to join our team in a permanent, full-time role. You'll play a vital leadership role in delivering outstanding sporting and entertainment experiences at a venue that hosts some of Australia's top teams and most memorable events.

About the Role

Reporting directly to the Venue Manager, you'll lead a high-performing back of house operations team that supports the successful delivery of elite-level sporting matches, concerts, special events, and daily venue operations.

You'll bring strong leadership, stakeholder engagement, and technical operations experience to the role – ensuring every event at AAMI Park runs smoothly, safely, and to the highest standard.

As a senior member of the AAMI Park leadership team, you'll also work collaboratively with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders including sporting tenants (such as Melbourne Storm, Melbourne Victory, Melbourne City, and Melbourne Football Club), entertainment promoters, broadcast and production partners, and key Melbourne Park teams.

Key Responsibilities

 Leadership & Team Capability
Lead and inspire the AAMI Park back of house operations team, promoting a culture of collaboration, accountability, and high performance aligned with our precinct-wide values.

Event Planning & Delivery
Oversee the planning and execution of all back-of-house operations for a broad calendar of sporting and entertainment events – including broadcast, AV, IPTV, signage, sports presentation, digital assets, and more.

Stakeholder Management
Develop and maintain strong, productive relationships with key stakeholders, including sporting tenants, hirers, event promoters, internal teams, and external production partners.

Safety & Compliance
Champion safety by ensuring adherence to all risk management, OH&S requirements, and operational procedures.

Financial Management
Manage event estimates, settlements, forecasting, and financial reporting to ensure strong commercial outcomes and operational efficiency.

Continuous Improvement
Use post-event reviews and data insights to drive innovation and continuous improvement across event operations and customer experience delivery.

What You'll Bring

Leadership Experience: Demonstrated experience leading operational or event delivery teams in fast-paced, complex venue or stadium environments.  Back-of-House Operations Expertise: Strong background in managing back-of-house operations including AV, production, broadcast, and venue readiness for large-scale international sport and entertainment events.  Stakeholder Relationship Management: Proven ability to collaborate with and support a range of stakeholders including sports leagues, event promoters, and technical partners.  Risk & Safety Management: Experience implementing and managing comprehensive risk and safety systems, with Chief Warden training or similar qualifications highly regarded.  Financial Management: Ability to manage operational budgets, forecasts, and commercial outcomes across a variety of event types and stakeholders.  Customer Experience Focus: A commitment to delivering first-class experiences for guests and clients, with a continuous improvement mindset and a passion for excellence.

Desirable Qualifications & Experience

Experience leading national or international sporting events from a venue operations perspective. Strong understanding of production workflows and live broadcast requirements. Previous work with national and international entertainment promoters. Relevant certifications such as Chief Warden, CI, Working at Heights, EWP, Forklift License, or equivalent OH&S qualifications. Tertiary qualifications in event management, sport, production, or business are desirable.

This is an exciting opportunity to play a senior leadership role at one of Australia's premier stadiums and be part of a high-performance, people-focused culture.

If you're ready to bring your operational expertise, leadership, and passion for events to AAMI Park, we'd love to hear from you

Applications close Monday, 6th October 2025
