An exciting opportunity is available for an enthusiastic and detail-oriented Assistant Accountant to join a growing business in the food industry. This full-time, permanent position offers flexible working hours (38 hours per week) between 6am and 6pm on weekdays.

The business specialises in the wholesale marketing and distribution is currently experiencing strong growth. With a small but dedicated team, the workplace offers a dynamic, fast-paced environment and a culture that values optimism, initiative, and teamwork.

About the Role:
Reporting to the Financial Controller and supported by an Administration Assistant, the Assistant Accountant will play a vital role in managing and executing a variety of routine and ad hoc accounting functions. This role includes responsibilities across accounts receivable and payable, reconciliations, data analysis, and compliance reporting.

This position is ideal for someone who thrives in a energetic, and supportive team, and who is keen to contribute to process improvements and business development.

About You:

  • Bachelor of Commerce or equivalent qualification

  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices

  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and comfort working with large data sets

  • Familiarity with accounting and stock management software systems

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and a keen eye for detail

  • Proven ability to work independently and within a small team

  • Strong communication, organisation, and interpersonal skills

  • Capable of adapting quickly in a dynamic work environment

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage accounts payable processes, including cost allocation, supplier payments, and grower return preparation

  • Oversee accounts receivable processes and customer account management

  • Deliver regular reporting on sales, margins, and key performance indicators

  • Prepare and lodge compliance reports, including BAS and quarterly levies

  • Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and balance sheet accounts

  • Conduct internal audits across financial and stock systems

  • Manage weekly payroll for salaried staff

  • Perform various data analysis and support forecasting and financial reporting
