The History Team creates commemorative and historical resources to share with the broader community, to raise awareness of the diverse experiences of Australian military service. The Team supports the entire department, departmental executive, and the Minister in this work, and provides departmental services including speech writing, essays, fact checking, and professional guidance on representing military history matters.

Your new role

  • Help create and check history content for government and public use
  • Work on several projects at once, meeting deadlines and keeping quality high
  • Talk and work with others to improve DVA's history website and resources
  • Give expert advice to your team and leaders
  • Write and review content like reports, advice, and letters

What you'll need to succeed

  • Good at leading, making decisions, and solving problems
  • Can work alone or with others and give helpful advice to your manager
  • Get things done well and on time, even when it's busy
  • Can run projects and meet deadlines
  • A strong researcher and writer of History is preferred

What you'll get in return

You'll be employed on a 38-week contract, with payments made weekly. The role is scheduled to begin in mid-July 2025, offering a structured and consistent work schedule. This opportunity provides a solid starting point for gaining experience and contributing meaningfully over the course of the contract.
