AJK Outfitters is an Australian-owned accommodation outfitting and commercial joinery specialist established in 2005. We deliver turnkey FFE solutions nationwide, managing projects from concept to completion across student accommodation, build-to-rent properties, hotels, and government facilities.
The Opportunity
We are seeking a experienced and skilled Leading Hand Joinery to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating the day-to-day construction operations on-site, ensuring projects are delivered on time and to the highest quality standards. This hands-on roll is on-site on projects mainly across Sydney. For the right candidate this can turn into a permanent position.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintaining accurate records and documentation related to the project including site diaries and software entries.
- Supervise and coordinate daily on-site activities to keep the project on schedule.
- Oversee and assist direct staff, subcontractors, and tradespeople to ensure consistent quality, efficiency, and skilled workmanship.
- Monitoring and reporting back to the Senior Project Manager on project progress, identifying and resolving any issues that arise together
- Mentoring junior team members, including demonstrating joinery and related trade skills, is required.
- Ensure all work is carried out safely and in line with WHS standards.
- Manage materials, logistics, resources, and deliveries efficiently.
- Collaborate with consultants and clients.
- Actively contribute to achieving successful project outcomes.
The Ideal Candidate
- 5+ years' experience in the construction industry, with a minimum of 3 years in a supervisory role.
- Strong understanding and knowledge of building processes, materials, and high-end complex finishes.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Proficient using tools in joinery installation, hands-on with tools required.
- Effective communication and interpersonal abilities to liaise with a range of people.
- Confident in reading and interpreting plans, scopes, and specifications.
- Familiarity with all relevant health and safety regulations and procedures.
- Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Ability to troubleshoot on-site and adapt to challenges calmly and professionally.
- Basic computer skills; experience with site/project management software is a plus.
- Driver's license and own transport to project sites.
- WHS White Card
- Unrestricted permission to work in Australia.
