About the role

Sankaku Sushi in Newport NSW is seeking a talented Japanese restaurant Chef or Cook to join our dynamic team. This is a full-time position, offering the opportunity to showcase your culinary skills in a vibrant and creative environment. As a key member of our kitchen brigade, you will be responsible for preparing and serving high-quality Japanese cuisine to our discerning customers.

What you'll be doing

  • Preparing a variety of traditional and contemporary Japanese dishes to our exacting standards
  • Maintaining exceptional levels of food quality, presentation and consistency
  • Collaborating with the Head Chef to develop new menu items and specials
  • Ensuring strict adherence to health, safety and hygiene regulations
  • Mentoring and training junior members of the kitchen team
  • Participating in inventory management and ordering of supplies

What we're looking for

  • Minimum 2-3 years' experience as a Japanese restaurant Chef or Cook
  • Proven track record of preparing authentic Japanese cuisine to a high standard
  • Strong knowledge of Japanese culinary techniques, flavors and ingredients
  • Excellent time management, multitasking and problem-solving skills
  • Passion for delivering exceptional customer service
  • Team player with the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends and public holidays
