Responsibilities:

As a Head Chef at The Birdhouse, you will:

What you'll be doing

  • Lead and manage a team of established, skilled chefs to deliver consistently high-quality meals
  • Develop and implement creative, seasonal menus that showcase your culinary expertise
  • Ensure efficient kitchen operations and adherence to health and safety standards
  • Collaborate with the management team to optimise kitchen workflows and costs
  • Foster a positive, productive and engaged kitchen culture
  • Monitor food quality, presentation and portion control
  • Participate in procurement and inventory management

What we're looking for

  • Proven experience as a Head Chef or Senior Sous Chef in a reputable restaurant
  • Strong background in contemporary Australian and Mediterranean cuisine
  • Excellent culinary skills, including food preparation, plating and presentation
  • Ability to lead, motivate and develop a kitchen team
  • Strong organisational and time management skills
  • Passion for using fresh, locally sourced ingredients
  • Commitment to upholding food safety and hygiene standards
  • Relevant qualifications in culinary arts or hospitality management
  • Australian permanent residency or citizenship is required for this position
