About the role
We are seeking a visionary
AI Principal Business Architect
to lead the strategic roadmap development and integration of AI capabilities across our Oceania team. This role is ideal for someone who thrives at the intersection of business strategy and emerging technology, and who can translate complex AI concepts into transformative business outcomes. Acting as a trusted advisor, the AI Principal Business Architect ensures that technology strategies align with business objectives, security frameworks, and regulatory standards. This role drives innovation and supports transformation. The role requires deep technical expertise, strong business acumen, and exceptional stakeholder management skills. The Principal Business Architect is expected to guide teams, lead governance activities, and bring thought leadership to all engagements.
This role offers hybrid working and reports into Head of Office of AI.
Location
: Sydney (preferred) flexible across Melbourne, Canberra or Brisbane location.
Responsibilities and Accountabilities
- Develop and evolve enterprise AI architecture strategies aligned with business goals.
- Identify and prioritize AI opportunities across business units.
- Design scalable, ethical, and integrated AI solutions.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to drive AI adoption and innovation.
- Establish governance frameworks for responsible AI use.
- Mentor cross-functional teams and foster a culture of experimentation and learning.
Requirements and Experience
In order to thrive in this role, we would envisage you having:
- Proven experience (10+ years) in enterprise architecture, business transformation, or AI, shaping strategy, design, and execution.
- Broad knowledge across multiple IT domains including cloud (Azure, AWS, GCP), networking, data, applications, security, and modern workplace.
- Deep understanding of AI technologies (ML, NLP, computer vision, generative AI) and their business applications.
- Demonstrated experience in enterprise architecture frameworks (e.g., TOGAF or equivalent) and IT Service Management (ITIL).
- Strong knowledge of industry standards, compliance, and security frameworks relevant to government and enterprise customers.
- Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Degree in Computer Science, Business, Engineering, or related field preferred.
- Exceptional communication and presentation skills, able to engage both technical and executive stakeholders.
- Strong business development mindset, capable of influencing outcomes and identifying opportunities.
Preferred Certifications:
- TOGAF Certification
- Certified AI Practitioner (CAIP)
- AWS Certified Machine Learning – Specialty, Azure AI Engineer Associate, or Google Cloud Professional Machine Learning Engineer
- Data Governance or Ethics in AI Certification
Preferred Skills:
- Experience in change management and digital transformation programs.
- Familiarity with regulatory environments and ethical AI principles.
- Ability to influence C-level executives and drive strategic initiatives.
