The Role
The Financial Accountant is an integral role within the finance team providing delivery of the core financial processes required for the business. The role provides considerable exposure to all aspects of the business and key management, enabling significant career development.
Key Responsibilities
Monthly Management Reporting
- Completion of allocated tasks per the month-end checklist on a timely basis.
- Collaboration and problem-solving with wider finance team to support close procedures.
- Balance sheet reconciliations and applicable control procedures post month-end.
Statutory Reporting
- Manage audit process as key engagement contact with the auditors.
- Preparation and provision of relevant workpapers and other audit support.
- Manage preparation of financial statements with external preparer, including provision of notes support and review of draft accounts.
Tax
- Preparation of Monthly BAS for Group.
- Preparation of Annual FBT working papers.
- Drafting calculations for Income Tax Instalments.
- Provision of information and/or work papers for ITR.
- Preparation of dividend statements for tax reporting purposes.
Business Plans & Budgeting
- Preparation and analysis of core opex data to support the budget process.
- Analytical reviews to support budget decisions (e.g. data review and sanitisation).
- Operational Reporting
- Completion of various statutory reporting requirements (e.g. ABS surveys).
- Ad hoc support for internal operating purposes (e.g. insurance, workers compensation).
Qualifications and Experience
Below is indicative and not prescriptive.
- Graduate qualified with the intention to pursue a relevant professional accounting qualification (CA / CPA or equivalent preferable).
- Adequate professional experience in public practice or industry to understand and complete tasks as set out in role to a professional standard (minimum 2 to 3 years preferable).
