The Opportunity: 

As a member of our Allied Health Team, this position is key in delivering Speech Pathology services to the People we support across our Aged Care service delivery.

To be successful in the role you are passionate about enhancing the quality of life and independence of consumers by delivering holistic evidenced based services and programs.  You understand the importance of communication and a team culture and are also able to holistically and autonomously.

Role & Responsibilities:   

  • Delivering Speech Pathology services in individual and group settings focused on capacity building, maintenance, driving restorative outcomes, promoting healthy ageing, optimising quality of life, and reengagement with community activities
  • Conduct Speech Pathology assessment and intervention of swallowing and communication disorders using appropriate standardised, non-standardised and clinical assessment tools
  • Provide a high standard of clinical service that reflects and promotes evidenced based practice
  • Supports an appropriate case load effectively through planning, clinical prioritisation, and proactive time management skills
  • Identify individual consumer's needs resulting in the development and implementation of a holistic therapy plan in consultation with the consumer, carer, relevant stakeholders, and frameworks (internal and external)
  • Ensure plans are developed based on the goals, strengths and identified needs in consultation with consumers. These are to be reviewed in accordance with policies and frameworks (internal and external)
  • Participating in programs that may enhance the older persons wellbeing, quality of life and preference to remain living in their own home
  • Conduct and complete comprehensive assessments and defined measures, and use specified data collection tools and outcome measures to record and demonstrate changes in function and to ensure consumer outcomes

About you? 

  • Current and maintain suitability and registration as a Certified Practicing Speech Pathologist with Speech Pathology Australia
  • Sound knowledge and practical experience working with people who are ageing from an enablement, restorative and wellbeing perspective, including assessment and the delivery of evidence-based skills
  • Understanding of multidisciplinary teamwork
  • Demonstrated ability to contribute positively to workplace culture
  • Confident and skilled clinician, able to engage and motivate consumers, families, staff and stakeholders
  • Experience and commitment to working with quality and risk management systems
