Six Degrees is recruiting an exciting temporary opportunity as a Principal Consultant in a small tight-knit Human Resources team in leading and supporting projects with an Industrial Relations focus in a QLD Government organisation. The role will primarily support by providing technical IR expertise, with a strong focus on drafting and mapping HR policies and procedures to align with current industrial frameworks and emerging legislation, including child safety standards. The work is highly technical, requiring someone with demonstrated experience leading or contributing to enterprise bargaining processes and developing policies that integrate with legal and legislative requirements.

Recent experience working within a QLD Government or Public Sector is a mandatory requirement for this position. 

You will make a significant contribution to advice, activities, and projects including:

- Development and implementation of workforce policies and procedures;

- Support activities relating to enterprise bargaining;

- Industrial instrument interpretation;

- Technical and strategic advice on employment matters;

- Capability development initiatives and compliance activities.

You will be a seasoned industrial relations specialist with a strong public sector focus. You will also operate as part of a team that values continuous professional growth and supports a collaborative, inclusive, and positive workplace culture.

Key responsibilities include:

- Leading and contributing to the research, analysis, development, implementation and review of employment and industrial relations issues, policies, strategies, and initiatives;

- Collaborating, consulting, advising and negotiating with stakeholders to promote collaborative industrial relations;

- Leading consultation, feedback coordinator and approvals in line with governance requirements;

- Helping to solve industrial relations challenges through identifying issues, opportunities, risks, implications, strategies (including risk mitigation), and options for resolution; and preparing and presenting high level discussion papers, correspondence and briefing material relating to a range of complex employment relations issues.

-Supporting related team projects, such as the development of the mandatory training program

You will need to respond quickly to new and emerging priorities. You may be required to undertake alternative duties to support the overall program of work within the HR team.
