Primary objective
Lead and manage the delivery of the Top End Patient Transport Service (TEPTS), ensuring safe, efficient, and patient-centred ground transport
operations that support the continuity of care for patients across the Top End.
Context statement
The Top End TEPTS provides scheduled and responsive ground transport for patients and escorts across the Darwin and Palmerston regions. The
service operates seven days a week and plays a key role in supporting patient flow, continuity of care, and hospital discharge planning. The
Manager TEPTS oversees daily operations, workforce, and fleet management to ensure services are delivered safely, efficiently, and in line with
NT Health policy and the Patient Assistance Travel Scheme (PATS) guidelines. The role works collaboratively with the Patient Travel team, Patient
Flow Unit, Renal Services and other stakeholders to ensure an integrated and high-quality transport service
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Deliver a high quality, integrated transport service, ensuring efficient and effective people, financial and operational management.
2. Manage rosters, workforce allocation, and day-to-day coordination of drivers and administrative staff.
3. Maintain a fleet of vehicles to ensure that they are roadworthy and comply with the vehicle servicing and maintenance of the Department
4. Pro-actively establish and maintain strong, collaborative relationships and networks required to support the provision of a high quality,
responsive, integrated transport services to customers, including responding and resolving to complaints.
5. Contribute to the development of operational policies and procedures, decision-making and future planning of service delivery.
6. Manage rosters, workforce allocation, and day-to-day coordination of drivers and administrative staff.
7. Problem solving and dealing with conflicting resolutions within the workplace including staff performance management.
- Maintain operational data and prepare activity and performance reports to support planning and decision-making.
- Contribute to financial oversight and ensure resources are managed effectively and responsibly.
- Foster a positive workplace culture through exemplary leadership practices and role modelling behaviours, supporting staff performance,
training, and wellbeing.
11. Follow defined service quality standards, work health and safety policies and procedures relating to the work being undertaken in order to
ensure high quality, safe services in workplaces.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Demonstrated experience leading operational or logistical services, including staff supervision, rostering and resource management.
2. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral, with the ability to work collaboratively across teams and interact
effectively with people from diverse cultures.
3. Demonstrated ability to coordinate and manage logistical operations including scheduling, run sheets, and fleet management.
4. Strong skills in conflict resolution, negotiation and performance management, with the ability to maintain a positive and accountable
workplace culture.
5. Demonstrated ability to manage shifting priorities and competing demands to meet deadlines and established timeframes.
6. Proven ability to build effective relationships and liaise confidently with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders across government
and non-government sectors.
7. Demonstrated proficiency in computer systems and data reporting to support operational planning, service delivery and performance
monitoring.
Desirable
1. Knowledge of NT Health systems and the Patient Assistance Travel Scheme (PATS).
