Job description:

Position Purpose

As Operations Manager at Maritime NSW, this role will lead the delivery of critical security operations across Sydney's iconic cruise & maritime terminals. You will oversee daily service performance, ensuring all operations—from passenger screening to asset protection are delivered to the highest standards of safety, compliance, and professionalism. This is an opportunity to lead and mentor the Terminal Security Management team, drive continuous improvement, and ensure full compliance with maritime legislation and the Port Authority's expectations. As the primary point of contact for Sydney's maritime gateway, you'll manage escalations, build strong client relationships, and champion service innovation in a high-security, high-profile environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Inspire and lead teams to perform with confidence and precision in high-pressure environments.

  • Drive operational efficiency by managing staffing, budgets, and risks to meet performance targets.

  • Ensure full compliance with maritime regulations and lead successful audit outcomes.
  • Translate client needs into clear, actionable strategies that balance service, risk, and value.
  • Communicate with clarity and influence across all levels—clients, teams, and government stakeholders.

Qualification

  • Current 1AC Security Licence - Mandatory
  • Current First Aid Certificate (including CPR) - Mandatory
  • Maritime Security Identification Card (MSIC) - or willing to obtain
  • Certificate II in Transport Security Protection (Screening Officers) or equivalent
  • Certificate IV or higher in Security and Risk Management - preferred
  • Recognised Fire Warden and Emergency Controller qualifications - preferred
  • CISC Accreditor status - preferred
