
Head of Procurement

We're recruiting a Head of Procurement for our client, a large Victorian government organisation undergoing significant transformation. This is a senior leadership role focused on delivering strategic procurement outcomes across major construction and infrastructure projects.
Reporting to the Chief Procurement Officer (CPO), the successful candidate will lead a team and act as a Procurement Business Partner across the organisation. The role is responsible for strategic sourcing, contract management and establishing a Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) framework to drive value, manage risk and foster innovation.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead procurement for large-scale construction projects
- Develop and implement SRM strategies to improve supplier performance and collaboration
- Ensure compliance with Victorian Government procurement standards and policies
- Partner with internal stakeholders to align procurement with business priorities
- Manage risk across financial, legal, and operational dimensions
- Support transformation initiatives and uplift procurement capability
About You
- Extensive experience leading procurement for large-scale construction projects, ideally across civil and building categories
- Demonstrated ability to lead and develop teams, fostering a collaborative and emotionally intelligent culture
- Skilled at navigating complex environments, with a proactive and adaptable approach to change
- Familiarity with Victorian Government procurement policies and frameworks (experience with MDPCP is highly valued)
- Strong communicator with a track record of building effective relationships across diverse stakeholder groups
