About the Opportunity 

The Out of Home Care/Whole Family Team is a Tier 4 specialist service, that provides therapeutic interventions for children and young people in out of home care, and, families where a Risk of Significant Harm (ROSH) has been made for one of the children and where there is a mental health and/or drug health issue in one or both of the parents. Specialist, tertiary level assessment and evidence based, family and individual, trauma informed therapeutic interventions are provided by the multidisciplinary team, as well as high level consultation to DCJ and other external agencies involved where there are significant child protection matters for a family.

This is an exciting role that is based in Ingleburn, which provides outreach/inreach and clinic based appointments, that is targeted at innovative and dedicated clinicians who will be working with vulnerable children in the out of home care and families where there is a risk of family breakdown due to significant child protection matters on a background of complex mental health/trauma/drug and alcohol issues.

There is professional development and clinical supervision provided and an expectation that the appropriate applicant will possess knowledge in attachment theory and an ability to provide high quality mental health interventions. The clinician will have opportunities to participate in research and quality improvement. The team is multi-disciplinary and works Monday to Friday 8.30am – 5pm.

What You'll be Doing

The Mental Health Professional is responsible for providing evidence-based, strengths focused, recovery orientated assessment and treatment within a multi-disciplinary team and coordinating consumers' recovery plans. The role is also responsible for non-clinical tasks including participation in quality improvement activities, clinical supervision and participation in administrative responsibilities as required.

SWSLHD Community Mental Health Services provide comprehensive, community-based mental health care across South Western Sydney.

These services cater to different age groups, including children, adolescents, adults, and older persons, ensuring specialised care throughout various life stages. The multidisciplinary teams offer a range of supports, including mental health assessments, crisis intervention, care coordination, and therapy. They work closely with inpatient services, GPs, and other community organisations to provide holistic care.

Relevant qualifications as a Registered Nurse, Occupational Therapist or Psychologist currently registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA), or qualified Social Worker eligible for registration with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW), or CSU Graduates: Bachelor of Health Science (Mental Health).
