Lead Data Engineer

Contract to 30/06/2026 plus 12 month extension | QLD or NSW office + WFH

We're recruiting an experienced Lead Data Engineer where you will supports the Enterprise Architect in identifying and migrating data between legacy and new systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design the process, test, and migrate data into a target environment from a multitude of data sources to satisfy agency requirements.
  • Provide high-quality data migration plans for approvals and implementation. Document, review, and confidently communicate deliverables to stakeholders and Agile Delivery Team members.
  • Determine process improvement opportunities and enforce adherence to data quality frameworks, standards, and policies. Confirm data migration techniques and methodologies, adjusting as necessary to adhere to restrictions.
  • Collaborate with project/program teams to facilitate the build and delivery of workflow solutions utilizing approved applications.
  • Understand and work effectively within Agile methodologies while concurrently managing multiple workstreams.
  • Maintain positive relationships throughout and beyond the project process with data professionals and business stakeholders.

What we're looking for?

  • Demonstrated Technical knowledge in data-movement scripting, proficient with both structured and unstructured data.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills, with an emphasis on managing task completion against tight deadlines and prioritization.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage concurrent data-migration projects with high attention to detail, while maintaining excellent quality and superior customer service.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent verbal and written communication. Experience working with data professionals and business stakeholders to build strong working relationships.
  • Demonstrated experience working successfully with Agile methodologies.
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in ICT, Engineering, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related discipline are highly desirable
