Cadence Connect have partnering exclusively with a leading Brisbane-based organisation embarking on a major data transformation journey. We're looking for a Data Engineer ready to step up into a leadership position or a Team Leader wanting a change.

This is a rare opportunity to combine hands-on technical work with genuine ownership, mentoring, and influence. You'll help shape the future of the company's cloud data environment while working alongside a highly skilled, long-tenured team.

About the Role

You'll lead and mentor a small team of Data Engineers, Analysts, and BI Developers, while remaining 30–40% hands-on across projects. The business is currently transitioning from on-prem systems to a modern, cloud-based architecture built on Microsoft Fabric, Azure, and Power BI.

You'll be key in designing and delivering data integrations, migrations, and automation solutions that unlock business value.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the end-to-end data lifecycle – ingestion, integration, storage, transformation, and visualisation
  • Lead the migration from on-prem to cloud (MS Fabric / Databricks / Snowflake)
  • Mentor and guide team members, promoting collaboration and technical excellence
  • Deliver key data projects including OCR automation (Python), Power Platform apps, and AI enablement (Copilot)
  • Partner with business stakeholders to improve data accessibility and reporting outcomes

About You

Strong background as a Data Engineer or Integration Specialist

Experience across SQL, Power BI, and cloud-based platforms

Exposure to data warehousing, lakehouse design, or ETL/ELT pipelines

Proven ability to solve problems, motivate others, and deliver outcomes
