What you'll be doing

As a Community Diabetes Nurse Consultant, you will provide senior clinical leadership and strategic direction for diabetes care across multiple settings. Your expertise will drive evidence-based practice, workforce capability, and innovative service delivery.

  • Deliver expert clinical consultancy for complex type 2 diabetes management
  • Lead and mentor nursing teams to ensure high-quality, coordinated care
  • Partner with GPs and community health to strengthen integrated care pathways
  • Develop education resources and digital tools to empower patients and providers
  • Contribute to research and evaluation of innovative care models

Essential Criteria:

  • Current Registered Nurse Division 1 with the Australian Health Regulation Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
  • Current credentialing with ADEA, Australian Diabetes Educators Association.

Selection Criteria:

  • Demonstrated 7 years full time equivalent post registration experience, with at least 5 years full time equivalent experience in the diabetes/endocrinology field.
  • Demonstrated ability to implement changes and develop direction in clinical practice by the initiation, utilisation and review of evidence-based research.
  • Extensive experience with contributing to strategic and clinical service planning and the management of organisational and cultural change.
  • Demonstrated high level advanced communication and interpersonal skills across a variety of mediums and proven ability to write for a variety of documents.
  • Proven advanced skills in clinical supervision and teaching, competency in the use of contemporary information systems and evidence of the ability to develop, implement and evaluate specialty education programs.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary framework within I&CH and the LHD, in addition other service providers.
  • Current Drivers Licence valid within Australia and willingness to use for work purposes.
