Primary objective

The Registration and Authorisations Assistant is a member of a highly skilled and critical function of the office of Teacher Registration

Board of the Northern Territory. The role works as a part of a well-coordinated team who are responsible for the administration of

applications, approvals, and assessment of eligibility for teacher registration under the Act. The role provides high quality customer service,

accurate data entry and management of mail and other documentation. A Registration and Authorisations Officer is attentive to detail and

responsible for critical data entry and reporting. This position reports to the Manager, Registrations and Authorisations.

Context statement

The Office of the Board supports the Teacher Registration Board of the Northern Territory, an independent statutory authority,

administered by the Department of Education and Training and reporting to the Minister for Education, Training and Early Education. The

Board is charged with maintaining teacher registration and teacher standards in the Northern Territory. This includes the management of

professional conduct matters, accreditation of initial teacher education courses, support for teachers at all career stages and the

certification of Highly Accomplished and Lead teachers.

Key duties and responsibilities

1. To assist in all aspects of the assessing and processing of applications efficiently and accurately for registration, in a manner that is

consistent with agreed policies, processes and procedures under the relevant legislation.

2. Data entry and preparation of routine correspondence regarding applications for registration with acute attention to detail.

3. Act as the first point of contact to the Teacher Registration Board of the Northern Territory ensuring a high standard of customer service

in providing prompt, professional and accurate information to inquiries from applicants and stakeholders about all aspects of the

registration process at local, interstate, and overseas levels.

  2. Ability to follow instruction that comply with legislative, procedural and policy requirements for registration and authorisation

processes.

2. Proven high-level organisational support skills and the ability to work under pressure, attend to detail, exercise initiative, respond to

shifting priorities, complete tasks within required timeframes and work in a team environment with minimal supervision to contribute

to the team's effectiveness.

  1. Demonstrated strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills and the proven ability to be discreet and maintain

confidentiality and ability to interact effectively with people from diverse cultures.

  1. Experience in office procedures and systems including relevant experience in word processing, database, spreadsheet and computer systems

pertaining to the position with a high standard of keyboard/typing skills, accuracy and attention to detail.

  1. Demonstrated self-motivation and a high level of initiative and adaptability to change including the ability to fit in with a small team and

contribute in a positive and flexible manner to developing new practices and procedures.
