What is the role?

Are you looking for an opportunity that offers meaningful work and allows you to showcase your professionalism and stakeholder engagement skills? We are seeking an experienced and driven individual to fill the role of Coordinator Ministerial and Parliamentary Liaison. This is a high profile and fast paced leadership position critical to supporting the AFP's engagement with the Minister's Office, Parliament and Senior Executives.

As a Coordinator, you will lead a dedicated team responsible for delivering high quality ministerial and parliamentary services including the drafting of ministerial correspondence, briefs, Question Time Briefs, overseeing the Senate Estimates preparation process, drafting responses to parliamentary questions and parliamentary committee hearing packs to prepare Senior Executives for committee appearances. You will work closely with senior departmental leaders to ensure timely, accurate and strategically aligned advice and support.

This role is best suited to a proactive leader with exceptional communication, coordination and stakeholder engagement skills and a deep understanding of government and parliamentary processes.

The merit pool from this position may also be used to fill other leadership roles within the AFP.

What will you do?

Lead the Ministerial and Parliamentary Liaison team to deliver high-quality outputs including briefs, correspondence, Question Time Briefs as well as overseeing Senate Estimates and parliamentary processes

Provide strategic advice to the Senior Executive and line areas on ministerial and parliamentary matters and processes

Manage effective relationships with the Minister's Office, Parliament, internal and external stakeholders

Oversee workflows and assurance processes to ensure the timeliness, quality and consistency of all ministerial and parliamentary products

Drive improvements in systems, processes and capability related to ministerial and parliamentary coordination

Lead and manage staff performance, development and engagement in a high-pressure, high-paced environment

Represent the AFP at inter-agency or whole of government forums

Essential Requirements

You must be an Australian Citizen at the time of application

Negative Vetting 1 (Secret) security clearance or the ability to obtain one

A strong understanding of ministerial and parliamentary processes and the machinery of government

Proven leadership experience in high-pressure environments with shifting priorities and tight deadlines

Desirable Requirements

Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with acute attention to detail and the ability to translate complex information into clear, concise products

Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to work diplomatically and confidently with senior executives and Ministerial and Parliamentary Offices
