About the role
Council is seeking an experienced Administration Officer for a fixed-term contract, commencing Tuesday, 27 January 2026 until Friday 27 March 2027, to provide confidential, professional, and efficient administrative support to the Civil Works team based in Monto.
This position plays a key role in supporting the delivery of Council's civil works services. The successful candidate will be a strong communicator with the ability to build and maintain effective working relationships and will work collaboratively with both internal and external stakeholders.
Key responsibilities
Carry out general administrative functions relevant to the work area which are compliant with Council's policies and procedures, such as:
- Action customer service requests and respond to enquiries via phone, face to face or correspondence as required
- Co-ordinate appointments, meetings and maintain electronic calendars
- Reconcile corporate credit cards and create/ process purchase orders in line with the Section's purchasing requirements
- Assist with the compilation of Section reports including research and collation of data required for content
- Such other relevant duties as required from time to time which would generally fall within the scope of this position.

- Demonstrated data entry and word processing skills, and proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Publisher, PowerPoint), and Council's Information Management Systems (MagiQ Documents, MagiQ Enterprise), or ability to rapidly acquire same.
- Knowledge of, or ability to acquire knowledge of Council's standard work practices, procedures and policies relevant to the work area (e.g. clerical duties including reception, operating office equipment, prepare routine correspondence, reports, agendas and minutes of meetings, and to manage diaries / appointment schedules of others).
- Current C class drivers' licence.
