About the role
We are looking for an experienced Communications Specialist (known internally as a Narrative Specialist) who is passionate about releasing children from poverty, using their writing skills to share stories, and engaging supporters with our mission. This is a full-time 12 month temporary contract with the possibility of extension.

The successful applicant's core responsibilities will be

  • Tell Our Story - Prepare persuasive project proposals and progress reports that showcase the impact of our local church partners. This will be the primary responsibility of this position.
  • Craft Compelling Copy – Research and write engaging digital and print marketing content that elevates Compassion's voice and connects with key audiences.
  • Write for Multiple Channels - Collaborate with the rest of our creative team to develop high-impact materials including EDMs, web landing pages, blog articles, flyers, and digital and print advertisements.
  • Polish Every Word - Proofread and edit written materials from team members content sent from our program countries to ensure clarity and, consistency, and brand alignment. for an Australian audience.
  • Collaborate with Purpose - Work closely with the team to maintain cohesive messaging across all campaigns and channels.
The successful applicant will possess the following:
  • Bachelor's degree in communications, writing or similar discipline
  • 3 years' experience in a communications role
  • Proven ability to craft and tell compelling stories
  • Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to work productively to deadlines
  • Strong understanding of digital marketing principles (including SEO and accessibility), content creation and brand
  • Creative thinking, ideation and problem-solving skills
  • The desire to learn and grow alongside a talented, motivated and fun creative team
  • Experience in the international development sector (preferred)
