When disaster strikes, reliable communication is essential. In New South Wales, we operate and maintain one of the world's largest critical communications networks. More than 50 emergency services agencies and utilities rely on high accessibility, even in harsh environments. The NSW Telco Authority coordinates the Public Safety Network (PSN), which we maintain across 400+ sites. We monitor an average of 570,000 calls daily.

LET'S EXPLORE THE ROLE
This role focuses on supporting and maintaining the NSW Public Safety Network (PSN). It involves providing technical leadership to the NOCC and field teams, resolving issues proactively, managing incidents, and offering guidance to the Telco Authority.
Key Responsibilities:
- Resolve incidents and problems requiring level 2 support
- Manage configuration and software changes for the P25 network and site equipment, including peer reviews
- Support escalation to level 3 support as needed
- Perform level 2 support and maintenance during on-site Non-Intrusive and Intrusive PMIs
- Propose solutions for issues beyond scope to the Telco Authority
- Interact with clients to resolve issues and complete support activities
- Provide training and guidance to BAICC, Service Integrity, and maintenance teams
- Work with NOCC Manager and support customer and network issue resolution within agreed timelines
- Escalate systemic operational or customer issues for further support
- Monitor system performance and escalate capacity or other issues
- Generate ad hoc reports during emergencies
- Investigate complex faults, root causes, and fixes or workarounds
- Guide subcontractors during fault restoration
- Assist in developing work estimates and external bids
- Participate in on-call support for PSN NOCC on a roster basis
LET'S HEAR ABOUT YOU
- Understanding of P25 or equivalent RF systems
- Intermediate knowledge of Motorola applications and radio equipment (or similar)
- Knowledge of DC power systems and batteries
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent customer service and communication skills
- Effective presentation, consultation, and liaison skills
- Good planning, prioritization, and organizational skills
- Engineering qualification or relevant experience and technical expertise
- Australian Citizenship required for security clearance
