Job Description

The Lead Community Development Specialist is responsible for providing strategic leadership and direction to community service programs, ensuring high-quality services that meet the needs of vulnerable populations.

This role oversees day-to-day operations, managing teams through transformational change, and ensuring compliance with funding and legislative requirements. Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing strong, supportive leadership to team leaders and specialist clinicians.
  • Managing and supporting teams during periods of change.
  • Ensuring services meet regulatory obligations and deliver excellent outcomes.
Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, candidates must possess a graduate degree in Social Welfare, Social Work, or Psychology, and demonstrate:

  • A minimum of 3 years' management experience in out-of-home care, child protection, or community services programs.
  • At least 5 years' direct work experience with children/young people in the community services sector.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of relevant legislation, best practices, and research-based approaches.
