A Federal Government department is seeking an experienced Stakeholder Engagement and Government Relations professional to join their team on an interim basis.

Your new role

As the Assistant Director, Stakeholder Engagement and Government Relations you will provide strategic advice to senior executives and strengthen relationships across government, industry bodies, and community stakeholders. You will coordinate ministerial and executive briefings, manage engagement activities, and contribute to the development of communications plans.

A key aspect of the role is direct engagement with senior stakeholders, requiring a personable approach and the ability to influence outcomes. You will thrive in a fast-paced environment, balancing multiple priorities while delivering clear, timely, and strategic advice.

What you'll need to succeed

  • Experience in stakeholder engagement and government relations at a senior level
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to draft and coordinate high-quality briefings
  • Proven ability to influence and manage relationships with senior stakeholders
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to support timely decision-making
  • Flexibility and confidence to work across competing priorities in a dynamic environment
  • You must be an Australian Citizen to apply for this position
  • Ability to commence immediately for the duration of the contract
