Disability Support Worker

Location: Newcastle & Surrounds

Roster: 24/7 (including sleepovers)

At Newcastle Disability Support, we deliver a wide range of services including:

  • Supported Independent Living (SIL) – 24/7 supports in shared housing or individual homes
  • Individualised Living Options (ILO) – tailored arrangements that give people greater choice and control over where and how they live
  • Community Access – supporting people to connect with their community, attend appointments, and participate in social and recreational activities
  • Drop-In Supports – flexible assistance in the home when and where it's needed

We pride ourselves on delivering person centred care that empowers people with disability to live the life they choose.


Key Responsibilities

  • Provide respectful support to people with disability, including those with mental health challenges, behaviours of concern, and complex needs
  • Assist with personal care such as bathing, toileting, and dressing where required
  • Support clients in daily living tasks, community engagement, and skill-building activities
  • Advocate for client choice, independence, and active participation in all aspects of life
  • Think creatively and adapt supports to meet each individual's preferences and goals
  • Work across a rotating 24/7 roster, including sleepover shifts where applicable

Skills & Experience

  • Experience in disability or mental health support, ideally across different service types (SIL, ILO, Community Access, Drop-In)
  • Ability to implement Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) strategies
  • Current unrestricted NSW driver's licence and access to a reliable vehicle
  • Confidence using technology (mobile apps and desktop software)
  • Current First Aid Certificate (HLTAID003 or HLTAID011)
  • First Aid Certificate must be held before commencing employment
  • Ability to obtain all required probity checks, including National Criminal History Record Check and NDIS Worker Screening
