Undergraduate Accountant (1st–2nd Year) — Brisbane CBD | Casual → Perm PT | Immediate Start

Start your accounting career properly: build strong bookkeeping and payroll foundations, then move quickly into tax, consulting and advisory. You'll work in a small, open office with close access to our director (an award‑winning CPA), supported by an AI tech capable team that includes a physicist and a computer engineer. We're next to Central Station, with easy links to UQ and a short walk to QUT. Some work from home is available once you've proved yourself.

About Bizgro

Founded in 2002, Bizgro is a CPA Australia public practice and registered tax agent. We provide bookkeeping, payroll, BAS, tax preparation and lodgement, and advisory to a broad client base. What you'll do (and how you'll progress)

Months 0–3 (Foundations):

• Code and reconcile transactions; maintain orderly digital files.
• Assist with AP/AR and payroll basics; prepare source data for BAS.
• Work across Xero, MYOB, QuickBooks and Reckon using documented checklists.

Months 3–12 (Build depth):

• Prepare BAS workpapers; support simple business tax return packs.
• Draft client notes and follow‑ups; present findings clearly.
• Start analytics/reporting tasks (e.g., Excel/Power BI dashboards).

Year 2+ (Step up):

• Take ownership of recurring jobs; liaise directly with clients.
• Contribute to tax advisory, process improvement and automation.
• Mentor newer students; shape internal tools and training resources.

Who you are

• Current study:
  1st or 2nd‑year uni student in Accounting/Commerce (or closely related).
• Background:
  You've done some accounting at school or completed a unit at uni/TAFE.
• Intent:
  You want a long‑term career in
  tax accounting
  .
• Attributes:
  Accurate, organised, quick to learn, and steady under time pressure.
• Communication:
  Clear written and verbal English; professional email etiquette.
• Eligibility:
  Australian working rights. For WFH days, a quiet workspace and reliable internet.

Hours, location & flexibility

• Minimum:
  3 days per week during semester.
• Start:
  Immediate start available, pending interview and a work practice test.
• Basis:
  Casual to begin;
  permanent part‑time
  available once you've proved yourself.
• Place:
  Brisbane City office (opposite Central Station). Some WFH after you've demonstrated capability.
