Winnam Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders Corporation (Winnam) is a community controlled not-for-profit organisation that is a holistic service provider for the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders community in the Wynnum and Bayside Suburbs of Brisbane, within the boundaries of Quandamooka country. Winnam has two main operations: community housing and aged care services.
Winnam owns and manages housing in the Wynnum/Manly and south-east Bayside areas including the Redland City and Tingalpa areas. We accept referrals and applications for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander households who are currently living in these suburbs or who have a connection with the region and a desire to live in our target area. Winnam manages three (3) separate Housing Programs:
• Affordable Housing provided from Winnam's own housing stock.
• Long-Term Community Housing under the Department of Housing and Public Works Social Housing Program; and
• Emergency Housing under the Brisbane City Council's Community Housing Partnership Project (CHPP) and Winnam owned.
Georgina Hostel and Aged Care Facility (Georgina) is a 24-bed facility owned and operated by Winnam Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders Corporation. Georgina Hostel offers both Permanent-Ageing in Place care along with respite care for both high and low care Indigenous Elders. Georgina Hostel operates under the National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Flexible Aged Care Program (NATSIFACP) and provides flexible, culturally appropriate aged care to older Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people close to their home and/or community. Our vision is to ensure residents have the highest quality of care, services, support, and facilities that meet the spiritual, cultural, physical, mental, and social needs of individual residents in a dignified, respectful, and professional manner.
Our vision for the future is to expand our aged care services and facilities to meet the broader needs of our residents. The objectives of the Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP), which forms part of the Commonwealth funded aged care system include:
- To provide CHSP clients with assistance with domestic chores to maintain their capacity to manage everyday activities in a safe, secure and healthy home environment, including time limited services to support wellness and reablement goals.
- To provide home maintenance services that assist clients to maintain their home in a safe and habitable condition. Maintenance services provided must be linked to assisting clients to maintain their independence, safety, accessibility and health and wellbeing within the home environment. Maintenance services can also assist in creating a home environment that facilitates a client's wellness and reablement goals.
- To assist CHSP clients to participate in community life and feel socially included through structured, group-based activities that develop, maintain or support independent living and social interaction whilst facilitating their wellness and reablement goals.
- To assist CHSP clients to participate in community life and feel socially included through meeting their need for social contact and company whilst facilitating their wellness and reablement goals.
PURPOSE OF THE CHSP SUPPORT WORKER
The CHSP Support Worker provides culturally appropriate, person-centred support services to Aboriginal and or Torres Strait Islander clients. This role focuses on enhancing client's independence, wellbeing, and connection to community by providing domestic tasks, home maintenance, group support and individual support through the Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP).

WHAT YOU WILL NEED
- Be eligible to work in Australia.
- Certificate III in Individual Support or similar qualification.
- Provide a current National Police Check with no disclosable outcomes.
- Working with Children Check (Blue Card).
- Proof of vaccination status.
- Driver's licence and reliable vehicle.
- First Aid and CPR certification.
- A minimum of 6 months experience in support work.
