Position Purpose The Systems Architect is responsible for overseeing the architecture of complex technical systems across a large-scale infrastructure program. The role ensures systems are integrated, scalable, and aligned with program objectives, stakeholder needs, and regulatory and operational requirements.
A key focus is defining the overall system structure, managing interfaces, and ensuring the architecture supports seamless integration of subsystems, automation, and emerging technologies.
Key Responsibilities The core responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:
- Develop and maintain the overarching systems architecture for the program, ensuring alignment with program objectives and integration strategies.
- Define and document architectural principles, standards, patterns, and guidelines to support consistency and quality across all technical systems.
- Support the management of system interfaces and dependencies to ensure seamless integration and interoperability across multiple delivery streams.
- Conduct architecture reviews and assessments to confirm compliance with requirements, standards, and operational needs.
- Collaborate with technical, engineering, and delivery teams with a strong "best-for-program" mindset.
- Contribute to the program culture and uphold organisational values throughout the engagement.
- Capture, share, and apply lessons learned to improve capability across the broader program.
- Develop documentation, reports, and presentations to support program governance and reporting requirements.
Cross-Program Collaboration The Systems Architect may also be requested to provide advice and support to other major projects or technical workstreams to ensure consistency, alignment, and best practice approaches.
A flexible, collaborative, and respectful working style is essential, as knowledge sharing and alignment across multiple programs is a key part of the role.

- 10+ years' experience in systems architecture roles within large-scale infrastructure, engineering, or technology programs.
- Degree in systems engineering, architecture, electrical engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- Familiarity with industry and regulatory standards (e.g., ISO 15288, EN 50126/50128/50129 or similar).
